Welcome to UTA’s Talk Grants Blog
Hey COE! Let’s Talk Grants!
(a monthly blog discussing grant development for the College of Engineering)
Did you know that during fiscal year 2024, the College of Engineering (COE) submitted 452 proposals, 128 were awarded, 171 are pending, and 153 were either withdrawn or declined. From those numbers, the total award amount was ~ $46,273,793 and COE expenditures from sponsored programs was $36,843,055. What do you think? Have we reached our limit? Do you believe you have support in developing an application to request funding? Have you tapped into the resources offered through COE? Did you know there is a grant professional in COE who is ready to help?
If you answered “NO” to at least one of these questions, then Let’s Talk Grants! as the next step to turn a “no” into a “yes.” Each month this webpage will feature a short message for COE faculty to help on your way to grant greatness. We will cover topics that are relevant to COE and address typical weaknesses in proposal development, as well as other tips. In addition, from time to time the news item will feature an interview with COE experts to learn more about their grant-seeking experiences. (Any volunteers?)
Of course – your input on topics of interest is always welcome! Here are a few examples of future blog entries:
- What is a grant?
- Explaining “why”
- Acronyms and Pronouns
- NSF Scholarships in STEM – restrictions and opportunities
- What is a BIG grant?
- Do you have a completed profile in PIVOT RP?
- NSF – Engineering Resource Centers – Gen-4 Engineering Research Model; Key Elements of an ERC, etc.
- Let’s explore early career grant opportunities (NSF-CAREER, ONR-YIP, USDA-AFRI, etc.)
I am here to support you! We know that external funding is not static. Keeping up with modifications and updates is ongoing and I will help you understand and navigate the changes. I look forward to hearing from you and Let’s Talk Grants!
